As director of the Kentucky Vocal Union, I offer a huge thanks to all our fans and supporters. Many of you made a monetary pledge that helped us meet our recent fundraising goal - which we met and exceeded with your help! Thanks so much for supporting the KVU as we prepare for future performances for you.
The KVU has launched a fundraising project to help fund its trip to the BHS international chorus contest next summer in Portland, Oregon. The page, which can be found on Kickstarter.com, offers the unique opportunity to support the chorus and, in exchange, be rewarded with a ton of incentives. Personalized Singing Valentines filmed in HD, unique KVU memorabilia, never-before-seen-or-heard footage from deep within the chorus's archives and more.
Check it out at Kickstarter.com, and tell your friends! If we don't reach our fundraising goal of $6,500 by the cutoff date of January 26, we won't receive any of the money pledged, even if we get to $6,499. Thank you so much for support! I wish you all a Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays! I hope you can create special memories with loved ones and friends, and I thank you for all your friendship through music! Here is a Christmas song I wrote in 1994 called "When the Summer Sun Is Gone" - performed by the Kentucky Vocal Union. For those who purchased the 2012 Dale Arrangements All-Access pass, there is now a link on the left for "2012 Promotion Info" and the "Order Page". These two pages will give you info needed as you obtain music and learning tracks this next year.
As always, contact me with questions! I look forward to communicating with each of you over the next year! If I could sum up the various things I'm grateful for in one word, it would be family. My lovely wife, Samantha, my children Liam, Lindy, Lief, and Liza, and my Heavenly Father and His Son Jesus Christ. Through all of these individuals I find my greatest joy in life. And that joy comes through service to my family and the Lord. Though I fall short daily, it's the daily struggles and the eternal journey that allow us to grow and to become more like our Father in Heaven. As a musician, it's my opinion that Music itself testifies that we have a Heavenly Father who created us in His image, loves us, and wants us to return to him some day. Thanksgiving and Christmas seem to stir up these feelings more in our family...almost like a rejuvenation and boost for the upcoming year. Hope you can find the same spark from this beautiful season of gratitude and thanks.
Been realizing more lately how blessed I am. Good to have God, family, friends, a job, a home, a car that runs, a fun chorus to sing with, and the opportunity to write music for talented friends.
Sad to hear of Jim Miller's passing yesterday. Over the last few years, Jim graciously agreed to come visit the KVU and coached us a couple of times along with his son-in-law Jay Hawkins. What a fantastic man - a hero in the barbershop world who will be missed. I won't say more....as my words can't do justice to describe his life and legacy.
Check out the KVU's upcoming show - December 2, 2011 - 8:00 p.m. at the Clifton Center in Louisville, KY. More info at www.kyvocalunion.org
